Ifans plays a stalker who becomes obsessed with a man after a shared trauma.
In Enduring Love, Ifans shares a gay kiss with co-star Daniel Craig.
But Craig says nothing compares to kissing Kate Moss, after beginning a romance with the supermodel earlier this year after she split from partner Jefferson Hack.
Asked to rate it against Kate, Craig grinned, "It doesn't compare."
But Ifans joked, "Daniel kept wanting to do the scene again and again. Obviously I've got something Kate hasn't got."
The pair were speaking at the Venice Film Festival where Enduring Love had its first screening.
Craig admitted he was nervous about kissing Ifans in the film's final scene.
"We were in denial for most of the movie," he said. "When the scene came it was a bit tense but we coped quite well."
In Enduring Love, adapted from the novel by Ian McEwan, Evans plays a stalker who becomes obsessed with Craig's character.
To prepare for the role Ifans practised by stalking his own girlfriend.
"I tried it and I saw that stalking is hard work," he said. "It's a waiting game and the waiting is what drives you crazy in the end.
"I did follow my girlfriend and various people to see how long I could do it for."
The film, which opens in the UK later this year, also stars Samantha Morton as Craig's long-suffering girlfriend.
